Help Me With XP

How do I speed up my web browser?

Most of us use Internet Explorer on our Microsoft XP computers. I sometimes use the browser furnished by Google. Regardless of the browser you use, here is one adjustment which can give you added speed in your web surfing.

CONDITIONS FOR THIS CHANGE

Use this tip only if you are using (1) XP on a stand alone computer, or (2) XP on a home computer or business computer which does not log into a business network of computers. If you have a home network which is not connected to a server, this adjustment will work, also. If your computer logs into a business server before it goes out to the web, then contact your IT person before you make this or any changes I may recommend.

REASON AND STRAGETY FOR THIS CHANGE

Microsoft has designed XP to operate in most situations. Certain settings are activated so that the user can operate immediately upon loading the software. Not all of those settings are needed in every situation. Usually these settings cause files to be loaded, or memory to be used. Such is the case with your internet browser. Microsoft automatically turns on four (4) services so that all users can successfully surf the web. The basic home computer, or the basic home computer attached to a router on a home network, only needs one of these services activated. By deactivating the other three, the browsing speed increases. The steps to take to deactivate three of the four services are as follows. If you experience any problems after deactivating these services, return to the same location and simply turn one on at a time until your problem disappears. The instructions below take it for granted that your XP is set to the CLASSIC VIEW.
